Keeping it real with your potential and existing customers will always serve as the best approach to guide & handle them accordingly. This can range from the initial consultation being transparent about what is best and the cost associated with making their vision happen. Even in the stages of having them as an existing customers, giving them sound advice on how to implement new strategies and the investment that is needed. There are even times where you simply have to say no, and politely decline embarking on a business relationship because either the ask is beyond your scope or unbalanced or the quoted service is in constant negotiation with the customer trying to get too much of a deal that only favors them.

Being honest and clear helps set the tone of the business transaction. In alot of cases, your customer may learn something they wasn’t aware of and find that your expertise is helpful and has the intention of serving them in the best way. Always articulate your business offerings thoroughly with kindness, but be clear in providing understanding and real expectation. It removes any confusion and misinterpreted intention.
