More than ever, protecting business data is a high priority for any operation. To make the best effort to do so, you have to put measures in place, establish policies and train your team to make sure data is secured. One of the fundamental ways to start this process is by using strong, unique passwords to make it harder for a bad player to access systems and computers. Another layer is to enable multi-factor authentication, known as MFA. This adds an addition layer of security and provides a great notification system as to when someone is trying to attempt an authentication to access a system or device.
In addition, you want to make sure you have a firewall on, use antivirus software on computers and servers. You also want to securely backup your data regularly, making sure you have an off-site method when you’re backing up data to ensure you are able to retrieve and restore if ever needed. This also protects from hardware failures, possible loss data due to an attack or a natural disaster situation.
So take proactive steps to make sure your business data is secured. Use different methods such as technology, policy enforcement and regular training to educate so that the whole is aware of the importance of security and protecting data and knowing what to do to be assured of that.
