Tip 134: Regularly update your business cards

Tip 134

A business card is a great way to share your contact details and offers business information to a potential customer that has interest. It’s important to keep the information on the business card updated by having the most accurate and useful information listed (phone, address, email, social media, website). As your business evolves, changes can happen and you will want to review your business cards from time to time. It’s recommended to discard old versions if they no longer offer valid information. Resist the urge to keep them and still give them out. Never make manual changes to an outdated card like using a pen to cross out old info and add a phone #. It doesn’t offer a quality look and can potentially be a turn off. If your role, contacts or branding changes, take the time to get new business cards created and printed. Remember that your business card leaves an impression and you always will want to give off your professional outlook. Frankly the cost is minimum compared to other advertising methods.

Not having up-to-date business cards can affect your chance of gaining new business, due to a lack of current contact information or having something on the card that no longer works to get the customer to communicate to you without issue. The other consideration is updating and keeping the visual look modern and in tune with your brand. Adding new items such as QR codes, etc. is a way to give a savvy impression. Taking the time periodically to review your card gives the opportunity to identify errors, updates and even deeming it time to do a refresh of the design.

Make it a priority to keep your business cards in stock and always updated.
